[HEXED PRIVATE TO ELENA NOTT]
I got a missive from Dad for the both of us. He says he's working over the holidays but he's heading off to Egypt and Italy to check on false prophecies or something of the sort. He might have to check something in China too. He asked us if we want to come with him to any or all of the places he'll be visiting. Do you want to go?
[END HEX]

I am most definitely not missing the last Hogsmeade weekend of the year despite the absurdly cold weather we're having. Is anyone else going?

Vodka and scotch. Anyone interested?

That was wicked fun. Also, well played, Hufflepuff.

The Christmas boughs and wreaths around school make me think I should start buying presents.

That was nice though

I shouldn't have. I can't offer an explanation for what happened today but please forgive me.

BLOODY BUGGERING HELL. This has never happened to me before. Never. I have always known who I'm kissing, why, when, even the how! What happened today. That. Was. Just. Bloody Weird.
[END HEX]

Hmm.

Hogsmeade this weekend, eh? I think I need to pay Scrivenshaft's a visit. I need a new quill. Maybe two. Eagle feather, most likely. Although, I did hear knarl quills are great. I might buy one. Then it's off to Spintwitches. I want to see if they've got new Quidditch equipment. I wanted to buy a new coat and a pair of gloves but I suspect Gladrags will be packed with people who haven't found costumes for the Halloween Feast.

[HEXED PRIVATE TO ELENA AND SCORPIUS]
Will you be at the Halloween Feast?

I know how ridiculously vulnerable first years are to comments and suggestions made by the older students but I never expected anyone to make a fool of a first year by telling him there was treasure to be found in the Forbidden Forest. The poor bugger had gotten lost and was sniveling by the time Professor Cavanaugh and I found him. He was very fortunate to have avoided the multitude of creatures inhabiting the Forest and I am fairly sure he won't try anything like that again. It hasn't even been a month since the term started and we already have first years falling into the lake or treasure-hunting in the Forest. Not to mention the fireworks displays. Who knew my last year at Hogwarts could be so eventful?

On a different note, I came across an old puzzle. How will you have a ball come back to you after throwing it as hard as you can? It shouldn't bounce off anything. There is nothing attached to it. No one catches it and throws it back to you. You cannot use Accio. Seems easy enough, yeah? I wonder if people will be able to answer it correctly.

[HEXED PRIVATE TO SLYTHERINS]
I would like to congratulate those who earned a spot the Quidditch Team. I look forward to flying with you. Try-outs were interesting, to say the least. You have all proved me wrong when I thought I would never get to witness brilliantly executed Transylvanian Tackles. Keep sharp, mates. The Quidditch Cup will be ours this year.

I never liked the heat of summer but I would ultimately prefer it over having to do homework during school. I need a hot bath. I can't believe I actually spent hours in the library today. I think I have a neck cramp from translating that runic inscription. At the very least, I can look forward to visiting Hogsmeade this weekend. That and Quidditch tryouts.
